All about the Institute
Murshidabad Medical College and hospital is a government-run medical college and hospital located very near to Berhampore Railway Station on Station Road in Berhampore Town at Murshidabad district. The college was established in 2012. The Hospital serves the people of the districts Murshidabad, Birbhum and the northern part of Nadia by providing preventive, diagnostic and curative services to the community. The college has a capacity of 100 MBBS seats. It is affiliated to West Bengal University of Health Sciences and recognized by Medical Council of India. Students are admitted through NEET. The college is affiliated by State Medical Faculty (SMFWB) for conducting para medical courses as per their syllabus. There are 70 para medical seats and these are filled with students screened by entrance examination conducted by SNFWB. Dean of the students affairs is incharge of the academic and other activities of the students of the institution.
There is a Nursing Training School with a capacity of training 60 students for GNM course. Also there is a speciality Skill Test Lab for the nurses from the hospitals from all over Murshidabad district, to undergo refresher cum hand-on skill test.
The facilities of the institute are built on a huge campus of 32 acres of land where the complexes with independent location exist. These are Academic Building, Hospital Building, Outdoor and Special Clinics, various investigating centres, Centre for various Welfare programs, Hostels, Residences for Faculty and staff, Indoor and Outdoor play arena including 2 large football grounds, Gymnasiums, Outdoor and indoor sports and games facilities, Diagnostic and Clinical services and pathological investigation laboratories.

The institution provides health care to all patients who come to the hospital free of cost. Somtimes patients satisfaction are influenced by patient load and availability of resources. However, the hospital tries its best to provide courteous, prompt, efficient and reliable attention to all the users, attending the hospital.
Outdoor services on all working days from 09 a.m. and to 02 p.m. Registration done till 2 pm.
Indoor Beds in different is now 1160 inclusive of CCU, HDU,SNCU.

Out Patient Departments (OPD)
Specialist Doctors of different disciplines like General Medicine, Chest Medicine, Paediatrics, Dermatology & Sexually transmitted diseases, TB & Respiratory diseases (including DOTS), Psychiatry, Surgery, Orthopedics, Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Radiology, Radiotherapy, Ophthalmology, ENT, Dentistry etc. are available. The Registration for OPD is from 9.00 am to 2 pm (except Sundays and holidays) and the OPD continues till the treatment of the last patient. Some Special Clinics (Diabetic clinic, Infertility clinic, Adolescent Clinic, Child Guidance clinic, Child Rehabilitation clinic, Thallaessemia clinic) are held in the Hospital for various specialized diseases on specified days and time.
Every patient seeking treatment at the hospital OPD is registered and issued a Card for only Rs two for recording symptoms, diagnosis and treatment being provided. Display Boards indicating unit- on- duty on various days are displayed at receptions and in the OPD block. Most of the essential medicines are available free of cost from the OPD Pharmacy. Emergency Pharmacy remains open for round the clock for all essential medicines and consumables.
All patients admitted in General Wards of the Hospital are treated free of cost. Free diet is provided to all patients in the General Wards. Every patient is given one attendant pass. Visitors are allowed only at notified visiting hours (4 pm to 6 pm everyday).
On admission of a medico legal case, the hospital has to mandatorily honor the rules of the Indian Government and informs the local police authorities.

Moreover, there is help-Desk counter at Entrance of the main hospital building, where Rogi Sahayaks help and guide the patients and their parties. Wheel Chairs and stretchers are available on request at the gate of OPD & Casualty Block for the facility of patients who are not in a position to walk. Ambulances are available round the clock for shifting hospital patients from one building to another and for the movement of on-call doctor and emergency staff. Ambulance (Nischoy Jan) is also available free of cost for the movement of the mother, who delivers a baby in this institution as a part of JSS Karyakram.
State-of-the-art Police Morgue and post-mortem facilities are available.
Medical Board facility is also available on request.
There are standby generators to cater the emergency services in case of power failure. A Fair Price Medicine Shop (under PPP mode) is situated within the Hospital campus, where essential medicines and consumables are available for all the indoor, outdoor and outside patients on subsidy rate. (51% less than MRP). Public Telephone Booths are available inside the premises Adequate drinking water and toilet facilities are available. Canteen for the patients is available. Deadbody (only in case of normal death) can be donated to the Department of Anatomy for academic and research purpose. Suggestions / Complaint boxes are also available with MSVP Moreover, one can submit their letter at the Office of the Principal or MSVP on working hours. A Public grievance committee looks after all the complaints / suggestions.
